Re-uploaded videos and pirated books: the Malbert case

Real case · Content creator · Spain · Client named with his permission

Malbert, influencer and YouTuber, started finding his videos re-uploaded by others who kept the ad revenue, copies of his books circulating for free, and profiles using his name to confuse his community. Nítida located and took down every copy at the source and had the profiles closed, with no need to deindex anything. The key was moving fast, before the copies multiplied, and then keeping watch for six months.

Take down the copies, close the profiles and make sure it did not happen again.

After

Fake profiles Closed
Deindex or push down Not needed

The challenge

A copy is not a link: it is a source. The longer it stays up, the more copies come out of it. The challenge was not taking down the links Malbert had found, but locating every copy that already existed and getting there before they multiplied, while fake profiles kept talking to his community in his name.

What we did

We located the videos, the books and the profiles and went after everything at once, with no phases: copyright claims, DMCA takedowns where the platforms use them, to each platform and each site, and closure of the profiles with the networks, proving who the real owner was. Everything came down at the source; nothing needed deindexing or pushing down. For the following six months we kept watching for re-uploads.

Always in this order: the source first; if that is not possible, deindexing; if that is not possible either, pushing down. Every case is different and every case has a way out; what changes from one route to the next is the timeframe. How we work content removal

Days 1 and 2

Everything located and everything claimed at once

Videos, books and profiles identified, and the claims filed the same day with every platform and site. No phases, no priorities.

Afterwards · route 1 of 3

Copies come down at the source and the profiles are closed

Each platform removes its copies and the networks close the profiles once the owner is verified. Routes 2 and 3, deindexing and pushing down, were not needed.

Six months

Monitoring included in the contract

We keep looking for re-uploads and new profiles. If anything appears, it is claimed again.

If this is happening to you

If your videos are being re-uploaded or copies of your books or courses are circulating, time is what matters most: the later you act, the more copies there are to take down. Send us the links you have already found; we will look for the rest.

Questions

Can videos that others have re-uploaded to YouTube be taken down?

Yes. YouTube and the other platforms have a copyright claim procedure, a DMCA takedown, that works. The work is in finding every copy and dealing with the re-uploads that follow.

And copies of a book on download sites?

Also, with a copyright claim to the site or to its hosting provider. If they do not answer, the pages are deindexed from Google.

Do I need to have my copyright registered to file a claim?

No. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. What platforms ask for is proof that you are the owner: the original channel or account, the edition of the book, the date you published it.
